My husband went up to Hayward, Wi last year to participate in the Kortelopet race with all of these cross country ski buddies. He brought back his number pennant and I was immediately inspired to my a handbag out of it. It took me 8 months to do it , but here it is!

New Book Covers - small and large

I made these book covers with composite notebooks and smaller nice notebooks for people like me sho love to have a notebook on hand to create, make lists, take notes and draw ideas. I put a pencil holder on the side to help keep the book closed.

Sometimes I work in shifts where I only think of color, texture & shape of the bag. There are days where all I do is design the focal point of a future handbag. Lately I have been really enjoying using different colors that I normally won't use. Or sometimes I say to my family pick a fabric or pick a color combination. It's kind of like a challenge. One thing that has taught me is that I can work outisde my limits of what I think would be beautiful and the project usually turns out great! It is better yet when it sells.

Handbag of reds & browns

I'm having fun with this new machine quilting designs that I started using. There are just wavy lines moving vertically on the handbag. With the vertical lines on the flap this is very pleasing to the eye. I added a metalic cording on the seams by couching it down with a zig zag stitch.

These evening bags are gorgeous! I especially like the texture and feel. These bags were designed so that the handle stays up and sides of the bag is also firm so it sets nicely on a table and does not flop over. Right now these bags are for sale at The Patricia Shoppe in Whitefish Bay.

This black & red handbag is one of my favorite shapes. If feels right on the shoulder and hangs right. It is small, but big enough to carry your wallet, phone and accessories. This is what I call a large evening bag.

Metal Embossed Green Handbag

My inspiration for this handbag came from the embossed metal that I created. Instead of leaving the raw edges of the metal exposed I just sewed them right into the seam. Creating this "crazy quilt" method which I really like. I placed the embossed metal piece on point to center it better on the handbag. I love going through my private stash of fabric to find colors that are pleasing to the eye. I really try hard to create the handle myself. I made this handle. Sometimes I do put in other handles.
